Review: Chanel Les 4 Ombres #226 Tissé Rivoli

Standard

tisserivolichanel This eyeshadow quad from Chanel, #226 Tissé Rivoli, has turned out to be the sleeper hit of my recent Vancouver haul. I seriously didn’t expect to love this as much as I do. I bought this purely because I’ve always wanted to own at least one thing from Chanel and figured that these basic neutrals would be a safe bet.  As it turns out, there’s more to this palette than meets the eye. They’re a little more sheer than say, Urban Decay, but they still have decent colour payoff. The sheerness comes from the lighter, baked texture rather than from a lack of pigment. I love the way these look on the skin. They add colour and dimension without the bulk that you get from some shadows. The shades in this palette are perfectly coordinated and give you a lot of options for looks ranging from daytime to evening.  They look almost humdrum in the pan, but once they’re blended onto the lids they catch the light beautifully and create a look that’s rich and sophisticated. The taupe in the upper left corner is particularly stunning, because it has very fine multi-coloured glitter particles that change colours with the light. I thought this would be something I’d only use once in a while, but I keep reaching for it again and again.
