Review: Buxom True Hue Blush

Standard

26102014 006A few weeks ago I wrote a post about my go-to fall look and the products I use to create it. That post was all about eyes and lips and said nothing about cheeks. There’s a good reason for that. For ages, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect berry-toned blush to complement the bronzy colours I like to wear on my eyes and the plum/berry shades I like to wear on my lips. At last, I have found it! Pictured above, is Buxom‘s True Hue Blush in the shade “Shangri-La-La.”

Lately I’ve been making a concerted effort to branch out and try some of the brands that I normally overlook. The Buxom line from Bare Escentuals is one that I’ve been aware of, but I’ve always passed it by, assuming I wouldn’t like the products. You know how you have certain brands that you just ignore for no real good reason? Buxom is one of those brands for me. And I’m beginning to think I’ve been missing out on some good stuff!

“Shangri-La-La” is a beautiful muted raspberry shade that gives the 26102014 012cheeks a healthy berry flush. I’ve worn it nearly every day since I got it, and it pairs nicely with just about everything. It doesn’t seem to matter what I use on eyes or lips; this blush just finishes off the look without clashing or competing with the other products I’ve used. It has great pigmentation and a super silky smooth texture. In the pan it has a bit of a sheen to it, but it reads matte on the skin. (I can’t stand blushes with too much shimmer.) The staying power is excellent. Even when applied sparingly, it sticks around all day. I’ll be paying more attention to Buxom from now on. The stellar pigmentation and texture of this blush have me wondering if maybe I should check out their eyeshadows next…
